"It is not the language of the painters but the language of nature to which one has to listen." Vincent Van Gogh.

The desire to create has been with me forever. It strikes me most in nature. Painting the rugged beauty of the New England landscape, with its changing colors, rocky streams, stone walls and white birch trees has become the heart of my work. In creating a sense of depth in my paintings the viewer feels he or she can step into the landscape and wander around, looking up at the peak of a mountain or hear the rushing water of a stream as the winter melt pushes it along. By painting in both oil and watercolor I find I can see more in a landscape. Ofttimes I start with watercolor and after several versions I move on to oil. I enjoy oil painting for its strength and classical nature. Watercolor painting though, is like the winters here, sometimes unforgiving but with a beauty that pulls you in and will not let you leave.
